Camp Kerry Info Session

Event Date: February 6, 2020

Please note we’ve had to cancel the info session for Camp Kerry (grief camp for youth) that was planned for February 6th. While it was hoped that this session could be rescheduled for later this month, we have not been able to make those arrangements. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We really appreciate your interest in supporting youth through their experiences of loss. If you’d like more information, please visit the Camp Kerry website to learn more about their upcoming youth retreat March 20-23rd, their organization and youth programs

Camp Kerry Offers First Vancouver Island Youth Grief Camp

The Comox Valley Hospice Society and YANA are pleased to collaborate with the Camp Kerry Society in announcing an information session for Vancouver Island’s first Grief Camp for Youth which will be held this Spring, from March 20th to 23rd near Crofton, BC.

The Camp Kerry Society is a registered charity that has been recognized as a provincial leader in British Columbia for their unique approach to bereavement services and for their work with children, youth and families who are coping with grief and loss.

According to Dr. Heather Mohan, “Loss can magnify typical developmental challenges for youth and create great instability in a world that is suddenly changed. The development of supportive peer networks ~ such as those that are typically established in camp environments ~ is critical to helping youth foster and re-build a sense of hope and community after a loss.”

The Comox Valley Hospice Society offers care and support for people of all ages who are living with dying, caregiving and grieving as well as free Advance Care Planning educational sessions. YANA is a community organization providing help to Comox Valley families who need to travel for medical treatment for a child or for a pregnant mother. YANA’s purpose is to improve access to healthcare by providing travel funding and accommodation.
