Krista Manuel – Director
Krista Manuel joined the CVHS board in September 2022. Krista is passionate about community, both biological family and chosen family, and about our environment, which she believes includes physical, emotional and psychological aspects of being in the world.
Krista moved to the Comox Valley to be close to her parents as they age in their chosen community. She loves that she is here.
Krista is a funeral director, embalmer, death doula, death educator and supporter of empowering personal decisions at end of life and preparing for death in meaningful ways.
Prior to her move to Comox in 2020, Krista lived in Revelstoke for 18 years. She has two children (one in university in Victoria and the other completing his last year of high school in Revelstoke).
Krista has been involved with hospice on and off for almost 30 years, most consistently for the six years she lived in Revelstoke where she volunteered as a front-line worker, led grief and bereavement groups, hosted death cafes, and served on the hospice board including the role of president.
Community is important to Krista, end of life care is important to her, Hospice is important to her. Krista looks forward to offering her skills, her enthusiasm and her compassion to Comox Valley Hospice. Participating as a board member is one way, she feels she can contribute, learn and grow with this amazing Group of humans.
